It's a family affair and a love for horses! Karen and Wayne Carroll have been involved with standardbreds for 4 generations.
Talbot Creek Farm offered 12 yearlings this fall from outstanding pedigrees.

Talbot Creek Farm

Karen was raised on a dairy farm and enjoyed showing dairy cattle at the local fairs. She is a third generation horse person. Her grandfather George and father Blake Bennett raised and raced Standardbred horses, mostly trotters. Karen always had a love of horses, getting her first pony when she was 7 yrs old. She attended college and studied law. She returned fulltime to training horses when her parents took their stallion, Armbro Agile, to race in the esteemed Ellitlope, in Sweden. Karen trained and drove, mostly trotters, for many years. She represented Ontario in the Women’s Drivers Challenge in PEI and won.

Dr. Wayne Carroll was raised on a farm near Shedden and was active in 4H. He was also an avid hockey player. He is a graduate of Guelph University specializing in Equine Medicine. He is a partner in a mixed practice in Aylmer and Shedden.

Talbot Creek Farm (128 acres) was started in 1998. Karen and Wayne built a new barn and paddocks for their growing herd of horses. They have 4 children, Zachary , Rhys, Makenna and Seth. All enjoy the horses and help out on the farm.

Congratulations Jumpin Junie

The Talbot Farm-bred Jumpin Junie broke her maiden in impressive style, winning the richest race for Canadian-bred two-year-old fillies on October 16 at Woodbine.

With Kazushi Kimura aboard, the daughter of Midnight Lute – Another Flashback captured the 77thPrincess Elizabeth Stakes carrying a $250,000 purse. It was her first win in three lifetime starts.

From our mare Another Flashback, the filly sold as Riplyn and the new owners changed her name to Jumpin June in honour of a late family member.

Another Flashback foaled a full sister to Jumpin June earlier this year.

Congratulations To Monkey Queen

Talbotcreek Farms congratulations Monkey Queen, a half sister to our broodmare Danish Girl, on winning her Simcoe Stakes division Saturday (September 3) at Mohawk.

Yannick Gingras expertly steered the three-year-old daughter of Chapter Seven to the 1:53.1 effort. The young miss now has three wins and two seconds in six starts for owners Lindy Farms,  Black Horse Racing and David Anderson. In the race prior, at The Red Mile, Monkey Queen won by an incredible 24 lengths.

Danish Girl, who is also a sister to $2.7million winner Gimpanzee and Iteration ($780,818), has her third foal, Genevieve, selling this fall at Harrisburg.
